SMS alerts

Indian banks send SMS alerts for debits and credits to your registered mobile number. If you are not getting them, update your mobile number with the bank (branch, net banking or the bank’s app) — the same number you use the Spendly Android app on.

Email alerts

Email alerts are often off by default or cover only some transactions. In your bank’s net banking or mobile app, look under profile, settings or service requests for “alerts”, “e-mail alerts” or “transaction alerts”, and turn on email for debits and credits on each account and card. Check that the registered email is the Gmail you connect to Spendly. Menu names differ by bank and change over time.

After turning them on

Connect the Gmail in Spendly’s Auto tab (and turn on bank SMS in the Android app). New alerts are picked up from then on — see how automatic tracking works.

Questions

Why is a payment missing in Spendly?

Usually the bank did not send an alert for it, or sent it to a different email. Check your alert settings and the registered email.

My bank is not on the list. What can I do?

Add those transactions by hand for now; tell us which bank you use so it can be added.

Do I need both SMS and email?

Either works. With both, Spendly pairs the two alerts and records the payment once.
